Shoot 4

Wipes, Wax, Shave and Mask

For this shoot I wanted to re visit my first shoot, and shoot objects using macro. After my last tutorial with Paul, he asked me about what other things women use to make them feel better/look better. I thought about all the things I use such as face masks, use a shaver and wax strips etc. I wanted to use these things, and then shoot them with the 50mm macro lens to pick up details.

I was able to re-shoot the makeup wipes, cotton pads and cotton buds, but with better techniques. I wanted to make sure I picked up as much detail as I could, that was clear and sharp. I also photographed a used face mask, I want to pick up the skin texture on the mask. As well as a wax strip, and a nose pore strip. Even though these images don't look pleasant, it shows what women use to keep up their appearances. I also showed the razor, and the harshness of the blades.

All these items are things women shouldn't need to use, but society has made them. I wanted to crop into the images, to show the detail, but not lose its identity. I want young girls, my target audience, to relate to theses images. I want them to look at them and see that they are doing this to their bodies. I have decided that these images won't be used in my final exhibition piece. I want to make them into a book, and place them along side the statements from the girls about beauty. I want the images to show how something so horrible looking, is creating something beautiful.
