Shoot 1 Edit

From my first shoot, I wanted to expand on the experiments I made. After looking at the artists work from Kevin Newark, I knew I could find something beautiful in normally digitising looking objects. I decided to look further into cropping into the images. I wanted to see if I could find new shapes, and patterns in the objects when I crop closely into them. As I said in the previous shoot, I found that when cropping into the images, it becomes unclear what the images are. As well as making something I have thrown away, look beautiful in some way. I wanted to go through my images, and crop maybe just the once, or maybe in multiple places in the image to find new shapes.

I was able to crop very closely into the wipes, as I sed a 50mm macro lens, and keep the detail sharp. In these two images, I like how you can see the frayed texture of the cotton, but you wouldn't necessarily know what the cotton material is. The colour on the other cotton pads could lead to the idea of make up, but cotton on both images could lead to other things.

I found that cropping into the images of the make up wipes, I was able to find shapes that resembled flowers. Even if the colours don't look perfect, I feel it gives the image a natural feel. The middle of the image looks like the middle of a flower, like a rose. And the surrounding material resembles petals. It definitely doesn't look as beautiful as a real flower, but it make the use make up wipe, look less disgusting as it would laid out flat. It would be more obvious to see what it was, with the shape and the texture.

However, I do like these images, I still don't feel like they represent what I aiming for in this project. I don't think just used make up wipes, and cotton pads are enough to talk about make up and beauty alone. I want to, later on in the project, look into re shooting in this style, but with more objects. I want to still want to show the everyday things girls my age use, so I will have to research into this more before shooting next. I also want to add more colour into the shots, I feel they are a bit flat and too desaturated.
